This promise has failed nearly every American from the birth of OUR nation and continues to haunt us to this day. We can no longer stand idly by and continue to be oppressed, degraded, and treated as anything less than an equal being. It is heart wrenching, debilitating, and offensive, that we continue to have to fight the same fight as the generations before us. At what point do we learn that we are greater as one people than when we are alone? When will we learn that when we separate and divide ourselves into ridiculous, offensive, and unnecessary factions, we are weak, but UNITED we are strong? If we continue down this path of division, what can we ever fix? More importantly, the question we should be asking ourselves is, “If we change OUR current course and realign as humanity, if we learn to give and not take, if we learn to love and not hate, what can’t we fix?”
America prides itself as being the greatest country in the world, but what are we the greatest at? At going to war? At punishing those who can't defend themselves? At taking from the poor, so the rich can get richer? Or at being the punchline to every other country on this planet? I love my country, but the America I live in today, is not an America that I am proud of, nor an America that I want to be a part of. The America that I live in today, is not the America I want my children to be raised in. We are an Amazing country when disasters hit. When Hurricane Katrina hit, every American did what was necessary to financially help, to be boots on the ground, and to be a microphone to show the world what we could accomplish together. When the Towers were ruthlessly and unnecessarily attacked in New York City, OUR country showed an ability to band together, to rebuild, to support and empathize with our neighbors. So I ask you, why is it that a disaster that has plagued our country for more than 200 years through discrimination, by segregation, by greed, loss of freedoms, like the right to work and with hate, why will you not stand with us now? Now, is the time to truly unite and become the America we all wished it could be. Now is the time to unite and be the America we were told by our grandparents that our country could be. Now is the time to unite as humanity and make the country what it needs to be.
America is under fire now, more so than ever before in history. We are fighting an invisible enemy in the coronavirus, we are fighting a worldly enemy as countries around the globe see our weaknesses exposed and pin us against each other, and soon we will be fighting against a change in which none of us has ever combated domestically. We will continue to see a loss of food, a loss of money, and a loss of resources as we continue to be mislead and pushed further down by the wealthy elite, by the hate and discrimination amongst ourselves, and by the greed of our political leaders. Our leaders, of all kinds, have drastically and unequivocally failed us, it is the responsibility of these leaders to guide and assist those who cannot help themselves, and they have failed. If the people who are supposed to make this country great sit aside and won't fight for the people, then we as the people, must fight to make this country great. But this doesn’t happen if we cannot act as one, if we can’t unify as one and if we can’t set aside our differences. Don’t be fooled by the wealthy elite and the politicians, they don’t want change. They want to keep the status quo because it allows them to continue their lives as planned. It allows them to thrive off our loss and it allows them to maintain control while we as the people continue to cry out for help. If we stand UNITED we can make change happen, if we don’t, we will falter and we will fail.
America needs a heart-change for ALL people, and UNITED we can take this country and make it thrive for everyone. America has been filled with people throughout history who personify the American spirit and has shown times of momentary success throughout our history such as abolishment of slavery, the Industrial Revolution, the New Deal, and the election of the first Black-American president. Now, America needs you, all of you to show the world once again we can be successful in large change. Now is the time, “We The People” need to decide whether we want to change or should we stand idly aside and maintain the status quo. America needs a hero right now, that’s in each and every American, all you need to do is dig down deep inside, find the courage to be bigger than yourself, and unite for change.
